~ Diet Recipe ~
This is a diet recipe is for a health bar that I have made at home every week or so for a long time. It doesn't take long to do, is inexpensive, and is more healthy than any other health bar you can buy.
Chewy Granola Bars
Mix together until well blended:
½ cup brown sugar (try agave nectar, found in health stores in bulk)
2/3 cup peanut butter
½ cup honey
½ cup butter, melted
2 tsp. vanilla
Stir in:
3 cups quick oats (try using rolled oats)
½ cup coconut
½ cup sunflower seeds, or nuts
½ cup raisins
1/3 cup wheat germ
2 Tbsp. sesame seeds
¼ cup Flax seed
(optional) 1 cup chocolate or butterscotch chips (or ½ cup of each)
Press mixture in a greased 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool completely. Cut into bars.
