Although wildly popular, and quite effective for some people, the Atkins diet is just not sustainable for most dieters.

Having said that, I believe most people take this diet out of context. The whole point is to reduce your carbohydrate intake. To do that you have to RELATIVELY increase your protien and fat intake. I don't think Dr Atkins pushed a high protien diet on the public. You just can't have all those carbs and call it a healthy diet.

On the other hand, a high protein diet can overload the body and that is not healthy either. There are worse diets, but there are more convenient and healthier ones to.
