The Scarsdale Diet was made famous in the 1970s. It was a diet designed by a doctor and had a high
popularity. The book is available today.
It is Low in Fat and High in Protein. The nutrient ratio is 43% protein, 22.5% fat, and 34.5% carbohydrate.
I don't know how you can get a double protein ratio over fat without cutting all the oils. Maybe that's
the hidden factor. If you cut all the oils as in the unsaturated oils found in almost all packaged
foods then you will have a healthy ratio. But do not cut the olive oil, fish oil, flax seed oil, black current
seed oil, or any other healthy oil.
Since the protein content is so high you're going to get close to ketosis, a metabolic process of high
protein. You can't do this for a long time.
Another good point about this diet is that it is low calorie (about 1000 per day), and has very
strict rules during the first two weeks. You can't go wrong by restricting the amount of foods you eat.
Again, what are you going to do when you stop this diet? You have to have a way of eating that you can
